The patented monoball® p0 is a unique inverted ball head which combines numerous advantages in a compact, light and smart innovation.
Small, light and elegant:
With a low weight of around 420 g (0.93 lb.) and its compact size, it is the ideal companion when travelling.
Tightening of the ball head is performed by a knurled ring, rather than knobs, which gives it a unique, simple and minimalist design.
Inverted ball head:
With the monoball® p0, the head rotates around the ball and not the opposite.
The ball is also much less exposed to dust and splashes in comparison with a standard ball head, which makes it more reliable.
This inversion also makes for better control of the camera.
Instinctive and maximum control:
The monoball® p0 ball head is unique: no matter whether you are left or righthanded, according to your instinct you can hold your camera with either hand for better motion control
and faster locking in position by simply turning the locking ring—no more hunting to find the right knob.
You can work by touch alone and focus all your attention on the subject.
The inverted ball reduces the lever arm between the optical axis and the centre of rotation of the ball.
A small rotation around the ball will therefore result in a smaller rotation of the camera, giving exceptionally sensitive control.
Powerful:
The monoball® p0 develops its unique level of clamping force from the equal pressure that is applied to both sides of the sandwich in which ball is held.
This force is derived from an epicyclic gear train with three planetary gears, operated by the knurled ring. This is the origin of the ‘p’ (for planetary) in the name monoball® p0.
Secure:
Like all other ARCA-SWISS ball heads, the monoball® p0 has an aspherical ball which increases friction with respect to the angle of inclination of the camera: the greater the inclination, the greater the friction.
It is an extra security measure to prevent sudden tipping of the camera.
90°tilt and top panning: The monoball® p0 is also capable of extreme movements thanks to a recess in the body of the ball head which allows a 90° tilt.
Combined with an upper lockable panning mechanism, overhead or downward views can also be achieved.
Nominated for Design Prize Switzerland:
“This is an ingenious, consistently realised design approach which generates considerable added value in functional terms. The formal design is notable for its unornamented precision and close attention to detail”.

Classic quick-release:
The Classic quick-release has two channels, which make it compatible with Classic ARCA-SWISS plates (the most widely used) as well as plates made to the new, narrower & lighter monoball®Fix standard.
When used with monoball®Fix plates, two pins on its base prevent any unintended slippage of the camera.
Tightening is done by a simple screw knob with which the photographer can ensure the camera is properly and securely fixed in position. It is equipped with a target bubble level to visualize levelling.
We recommend the use of original ARCA-SWISS plates, but the Classic quickrelease is also compatible with different plates made to ARCA-SWISS Classic standards, although tolerances may vary between brands.
What does quick set device "classic" mean?
The classic lever clamps the camera plate or L-bracket by rotation.
All camera plates, L-brackets, monorails & optical benches from Arca Swiss fit into the classic quick release.
Also other manufacturers that are Arca Swiss compatible fit into the classic quick release.
An overview of all quick clamps can be found in our "Knowledge Base".
