The pioneering and legendary monoball® B has contributed to the worldwide reputation and fame of ARCA-SWISS since 1964. It has been constantly refined and improved since it was first produced and replaced by the new monoball® Z1+ which benefits from the last material and technology improvements. The giant version, the monoball® Z1g+, extends the capacity of the ball head to extreme loads and is designed to support very heavy equipment.
Lighter and stronger as ever:
The monoball® Z1g+ is machined from solid, aeronautical-grade aluminium for robustness and rigidity. It can carry a load of more than 80 kg (176 lb.) yet is remarkably light, at about 940 g / 2.07 lb
It is recommended to be used with heavy cameras or telephoto lenses.
Movements under control:
The movement of the monoball® Z1g+ is incredibily smooth. The patented aspherical ball of the monoball® Z1g+ is a guarantee of safety: the greater the inclination, the greater the friction. There is no longer any risk of the camera suddenly tipping. The friction control system allows the level of friction required for movement of the ball to be set and held at a desired value. This function offers a further measure of security and allows the photographer to set a desired level of smoothness of movement as a function of the weight of the camera and of the conditions required for a given series of images.
90° Tilt:
A recess in the body of the ball head allows 90° rotation for movement from landscape to portrait format. Combined with an upper lockable panning mechanism (in option) overhead or downward views can also be achieved.
Dual Panning:
A bottom, lockable panning mechanism with a scale graduated in degrees fitted to the underside of the ball head allows rapid alignment of the camera with the subject. A top panning mechanism, also graduated and lockable, fitted to the underside of the camera mount allows panning once it has been levelled using the ball.
Classic quick-release:
The Classic quick-release has two channels, which make it compatible with Classic ARCA-SWISS plates (the most widely used) as well as plates made to the new, narrower & lighter monoball®Fix standard.
When used with monoball®Fix plates, two pins on its base prevent any unintended slippage of the camera.
Tightening is done by a simple screw knob with which the photographer can ensure the camera is properly and securely fixed in position. It is equipped with a target bubble level to visualize levelling.
We recommend the use of original ARCA-SWISS plates, but the Classic quickrelease is also compatible with different plates made to ARCA-SWISS Classic standards, although tolerances may vary between brands.

What does "double pan" mean?
dp= Double Pan -orama means that in addition to the single panorama pan, you have a second panorama pan between the aspherical ball and the quick-release plate. For perfect panorama shots, the 2nd panorama pan is essential. You bring the level of the quick release device with the ball head into the water and now have the possibility to pan your camera absolutely parallel to the horizon.
It allows stabilized movement of the camera like maximum locking force in any position and tilt angle.
The interaction of sophisticated technology and high-precision manufacturing guarantees perfectly uniform radial clamping forces at all times.
The new monoball Z1g+ has also been enhanced with a second panoramic device above the ball. This provides a perfect horizontal rotation plane, regardless of how the stand had to be set up.
In addition, ARCA SWISS has succeeded in decisively reducing both mass and weight in the course of the redesign.
what does quick set device "classic" mean?
The classic lever clamps the camera plate or L-bracket by rotation.
All camera plates, L-brackets, monorails & optical benches from Arca Swiss fit into the classic quick release.
Also other manufacturers that are Arca Swiss compatible fit into the classic quick release.
An overview of all quick clamps can be found in our "Knowledge Base".
