Monoball Z1g+ single pan "FlipLock"

The pioneering and legendary monoball® B has contributed to the worldwide reputation and fame of ARCA-SWISS since 1964. It has been constantly refined and improved since it was first produced and replaced by the new monoball® Z1+ which benefits from the last material and technology improvements. The giant version, the monoball® Z1g+, extends the capacity of the ball head to extreme loads and is designed to support very heavy equipment.

Lighter and stronger as ever:

The monoball® Z1g+ is machined from solid, aeronautical-grade aluminium for robustness and rigidity. It can carry a load of more than 80 kg (176 lb.) yet is remarkably light, at about 940 g (2.0.7 lb.).
It is recommended to be used with heavy cameras or telephoto lenses.

Movements under control:

The movement of the monoball® Z1g+ is incredibily smooth. The patented aspherical ball of the monoball® Z1g+ is a guarantee of safety: the greater the inclination, the greater the friction.
There is no longer any risk of the camera suddenly tipping. The friction control system allows the level of friction required for movement of the ball to be set and held at a desired value.
This function offers a further measure of security and allows the photographer to set a desired level of smoothness of movement as a function of the weight of the camera and of the conditions required for a given series of images.

90° Tilt:

A recess in the body of the ball head allows 90° rotation for movement from landscape to portrait format. Combined with an upper lockable panning mechanism (in option) overhead or downward views can also be achieved.

360° panning:

A bottom, lockable panning mechanism with a graduated scale fitted to the underside of the ball head allows rapid alignment of the camera with the subject.
As an option, a top panning mechanism is available with the monoball® Z1g+ dp (double panning)

flipLock® quick-release:

The flipLock® quick-release has two channels, which make it compatible with Classic ARCA-SWISS plates (the most widely used) as well as plates made to the new, narrower & lighter monoball®Fix standard.
When used with monoball®Fix plates, two pins on its base prevent any unintended slippage of the camera.
The lever has 3 positions: open and closed, plus an intermediate position, which allows a plate or rail to be slid into position securely. At this setting, the plate or rail cannot be freed.
The movement from closed to open position passes through the intermediate position to maintain safety and avoid accidents such as inadvertent opening of the lever by catching on something.
The flipLock® quick-release is adjusted to work perfectly with original ARCA-SWISS plates. However, using an adjusting bolt it can adapt to different plates made to ARCA-SWISS Classic standards, although tolerances may vary between brands.

What does "single pan" mean?
sp = Single Pan-orama means that there is a panorama swivel unit in the base of the ball head so that the ARCA-SWISS Monoball can be rotated through 360°.

What does quick set device "FlipLock" mean?
The FlipLock lever allows quick and secure clamping of the camera plate or L-bracket.
The double safety mechanism prevents unintentional unlocking.
All camera plates, L-brackets, monorails & optical benches from Arca Swiss fit into the FlipLock quick release.
