Die Universalis in der Ausführung dslr wiegt nur 1,2kg (mit montiertem hinteren 4x5 Formatrahmen Digi-Back Adapter ca. 1,9 Kg!) und in der 4x5" Version 1,9kg / 4,2 Ibs., eignet sich daher für Studio- sowie für Aussenaufnahmen. Der kurze Minimalauszug erlaubt das Einsetzen kürzester Brennweiten, was besonders für Architekturfotografen von Vorteil ist.
Vollumfänglich aus Metallegierungen konstruiert bietet die F-universalis ein Höchstmaß an Robustheit und Präzision und ist mit dem ARCA-SWISS Kamerasystem kompatibel Die Horizontalschwenkung der Objektivstandarte erfolgt durch das patentierte orbix system, die vertikale Schwenkung liegt in der Achse der Optik, wodurch sich ein Nachführen der Schärfe beim Schärfeausgleich erübrigt.
Diese Version ist eine vollwertige 4x5" Kamera, auf welcher Planfilmkassetten oder auch Rollfilmkassetten mit 4x5" Anschluss eingesetzt werden können.
