Productinformation in detail
ARCA-SWISS d4 gp “Classic”
Fine drive for perfect panoramas. Precision on every level.
The ARCA-SWISS d4 gp “Classic” is a professional 3D geared head that combines high-precision gearing with intuitive handling. Its horizontal and vertical movements are driven by self-locking fine gears, allowing micrometric adjustments without play or the need for tightening.
Unlike conventional tilt heads, the camera remains perfectly centered above the rotation axis, ensuring stable, distortion-free alignment – ideal for architectural, landscape, and studio photography. Two independent panorama axes allow rotation at the base or directly beneath the camera without altering the chosen tilt angle.
In the gp (gearedPan) version, the d4 adds a finely geared panoramic function on the upper platform: The top panorama can be rotated freely or adjusted precisely via the geared drive – enabling reproducible, perfectly controlled panning directly on the head.

How does the “Classic” quick release work?
The Classic quick release from ARCA-SWISS uses a precise rotating clamp. By simply turning the locking knob, the camera plate or L-bracket is securely fixed within the mechanism. The clamping force can be finely adjusted and holds reliably – even with heavy setups. It is fully compatible with all ARCA-SWISS Classic plates and with other Arca-standard components from third-party manufacturers.
